Riding school

This guideline helps us prevent unnecessary strain on our horses’ backs and allows us to provide a safe and enjoyable riding experience for both horse and rider.

At Camelot Riding School, we offer riding lessons tailored for every level — from complete beginners to advanced riders. We welcome all ages from two years and up, with options for both individual and group lessons. Whether your passion is dressage, show jumping, or simply learning the basics of horsemanship, our experienced instructors provide a supportive and fun environment to help each rider reach their goals. Our facilities include fully equipped jumping and dressage arenas, as well as lunging arenas, ensuring that every rider has the best opportunity to learn and grow.

Beyond lessons, we create opportunities to enjoy horses in unique and memorable ways. We host pony parties for children, offer scenic vineyard outrides, and run exciting pony camps during the school holidays. For those who would like to make horses a part of their everyday lives, livery stabling is available, offering the chance to become part of the Camelot family.

"Our aim is not only to teach riding skills but also to inspire a lifelong love for horses, the outdoors, and an active, healthy lifestyle.

To ensure the wellbeing
of our horses, beginner riders cannot exceed 80 kg.

ADELE Blignaut

My passion for horses started at a young age; it was only in my later years that I was able to own my own horse, a thoroughbred called Oscar Magic, who was stabled at Camelot. Sadly, Oscar passed away 2 years ago, aged 28.

I have been an instructor at Camelot Riding School since 2013, and my passion for riding, my bond with the horses, and my clients' trust in me are my motivation to teach. It is wonderful to start teaching a young, nervous child and, over the years, see them blossom into confident riders who are able to achieve their goals of competing. Many of my riders have competed in show jumping with my guidance. I myself have competed in many disciplines, be it show jumping, hunting, dressage and showing classes and the Reliability trials.

I teach English riding for riders of all levels, from complete beginners to more advanced riders, so they are able to progress in their riding skills and take part in competitions. Many of my clients have been riding with me for 12 years. With the younger children, I incorporate fun memory games while also teaching them the basics—from grooming and communication with ponies to understanding safety around horses, which is essential from an early age.

I patiently teach riders with physical disabilities as well as special needs children and adults. I understand the positive connection and benefit that horses have on challenged riders, having taught many of the children who attend SNAP, a special needs school in Durbanville.

My advanced lessons focus on flatwork as a foundation, especially for those clients who enjoy jumping. I enjoy designing engaging flatwork and jumping exercises, building courses for shows, and exploring different techniques and riding styles to keep lessons both educational and fun.

I believe communication is key—between myself and the riders, and between riders and their horses. I am passionate about teaching and providing the best opportunity for my riders to learn and grow. In addition to teaching,
I also host pony parties, which are fun and a great way to introduce youngsters to horses.

Marise Diamond

I've been riding horses for over 16 years and have spent 10 years sharing what I’ve learned as an instructor. I work with riders of all ages and truly enjoy helping people grow their confidence, skill, and connection with horses.

I believe that groundwork is just as important as time in the saddle. I take a calm, communicative approach to teaching, encouraging teamwork, trust, and clear communication between horse and rider. When we work with our horses—rather than trying to control them—we unlock something really special.
I work with both children and adults, adapting each lesson to suit the rider’s level, pace, and comfort. Whether it’s basic horsemanship, building a foundation for long-distance riding, or simply learning to feel at ease in the saddle, I aim to keep lessons engaging, calm, and grounded in partnership—with the horse and with yourself.

Whether you're just starting out or looking to deepen your understanding, I offer a supportive space where both horse and rider can learn, develop, and enjoy the journey together.

Because at the heart of every ride is a horse who wants to be understood—and once you feel that connection, there's nothing quite like it.
